Okinawa :: black and white checkers top

After hearing all the good things about Okinawa, we cannot find a reason not to visit. Everywhere in Okinawa is kids-friendly including the airport washroom. If this is your first time visiting Japan, you’ve got to try musical toilet (yes the toilette sings!), a great amusement for the child, and even adults!
There are a few extraordinary experiences I must share:
The minute we stepped into the tropical theme hotel, the holiday instantly began. Most hotels in japan are relatively small, but this one is an exception. Every suite is spacious with a balcony, two doubles and a living room area. The resort has its own private beach access and we spent an enoyable afternoon admiring at the Okinawa turquoise blue ocean, sipping our cocktail while watching J play with the sand.  For younger toddlers, it may be safer to stay at the hotel swimming pool with waterfalls and water slide. Most hotel guests are Japanese, so the hotel restaurant recommendations are tailored for the locals. The food is reasonably priced and authentic. Please see below for recommendation.

Wearing the Okinawa traditional outfit for a quick family portrait is another highlight of the trip. Anyone would look nice in their colourful kimonos. The fact that it only took 5 minutes made the entire process much more enjoyable with a toddler. There are two booths at Ryukyu Mura that offers the same service, we chose the one closer to the entrance.

The dolphin encounter and feeding experience at Motobu Genki Village is memorable for us. It is such a popular activity that I would highly reccommend booking one month in advance. We found it easier to book through “Okinawa travel info” as they handle all the refund, changes and language barrier. On the day, before we got to play with the dolphins, there was a 10-minute classroom briefing ie dolphin 101. Friendly reminder: It was very hot (35 C) and sunny even in September – hat and sunscreen is a must! If you have time, why not swing by and say hello to the whale shark at Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, which is just right next door. Hope you enjoy Okinawa as much as we do!

XOXO,

Cynthia

Hi, I enjoyed your post about Okinawa. (It’s difficult to find English info with details!) For Motobu Genki Village, did you do both the Dolphin Encounter and Mogu Mogu Picnic tours? How old was your daughter when you went? I will go with my 2 kids (4yo, 1yo) and am wondering if these will be fun for them too.

    Thanks!ReplyCancel

      Hi Linda

Sorry for my late reply. Yes we have been to both. I would reccomend Mogu mogu for your younger one and dolphin encounter for your 4 year old. My daughter was 2 and she was a bit scared of what she called “big dolphin”.ReplyCancel
